Happy Birthday to the RAF – formed 100 years ago today, April 1, 1918.

The photo I find especially relevant and personal too, it is an RAF-operated North American Mitchell of the 2nd Tactical Air Force, active over Normandy in the summer of 1944 during the D-Day period – and as well as that, the Mitchell is a type that I have had the pleasure to fly in, thanks to Mike O’Leary and his beautifully preserved example at Las Vegas in the early 2000’s.
