The April 2017 issue of Airfix Model World includes an article by me on the Hunting/BAC Jet Provost entitled ‘Instructional Gem’. It’s a background history of the Jet Provost T.Mks.3 and 4. What I wrote was very nostalgic for me – I had originally written on the Jet Provost in a history feature for ‘Scale Aircraft Modelling’ magazine back in the 1980’s – in fact it was my first published article. At that time I had some excellent contacts with BAC, which were very useful for information and illustrations. My Father at that time was also connected with BAC due to his work with a company in the Westland Technologies group, and so I was well-off for information on what was for me a pioneering writing exercise. Since then I have retained contacts with old friends from what is now the former BAC – including the famed writer and historian Harry Holmes. My new article on the Jet Provost for ‘Airfix Model World’ reflects that knowledge base – I hope you like it!
